Bill was deeply cherished by many for his welcoming nature and willingness to help others. Family was his top priority, always putting their well-being first. With a career spanning 45 years in remodeling and four years as a school bus driver in Kenton County, Bill brought his expertise and care to both work and family life. Known for his legendary celebrations and Jägermeister shots, Bill enjoyed work and play equally, with hobbies like hunting, fishing, smoking meat, and attempting golf. He appreciated the beauty of nature while hunting and relished quiet moments in the woods. Bill's fun spirit made him a favorite on the golf course, even if his skills were lacking.
A graduate of Conner High School, Bill was a leader and athlete, serving as the school's senior class president. In 1981, he married his loving wife, Rita, with whom he had a daughter, Elizabeth. His son-in-law, Sam, and grandsons, Tommy and Scottie, brought immense joy to his life. Despite health challenges, Bill faced life with gratitude and fought with determination. His impact touched many hearts, leaving a void in the lives of those who knew him.
Predeceased by his parents, Edward and Dolores Garrett, sister Margaret Ehrenfels, and in-laws William and Christina Gerdes, Bill is survived by his devoted wife Rita; daughter Elizabeth Halpin; son-in-law Sam Halpin; grandsons Thomas and Scott; brother Edward Garrett; sisters-in-law Doris Wilker, Barbara Koplyay, Connie Boggs, Bill Gerdes, Monica Littrell, and Lori Tenhundfeld; as well as nieces and nephews.
