The Vatican postal service has released its first stamps featuring Pope Leo XIV. The stamps went on sale on May 27 and include a special cancellation of the postage with a line drawing of the new pope waving to crowds in St. Peter’s Square.

The collection includes four stamps. Two stamps, valued at 1.25 euros ($1.42) and 2.45 euros ($2.78), feature photos taken on May 8 when Pope Leo appeared on the balcony of St. Peter’s Basilica immediately after his election. The other two stamps, valued at 1.30 euros ($1.48) and 3.20 euros ($3.63), show close-up photos of the pope during Mass in the Sistine Chapel with the College of Cardinals on May 9.

According to the Vatican post office, there are 390,000 copies of these stamps printed, each bearing his name in Latin as “Leone PP. XIV” along with “Anno I S.P. MMXXV,” indicating that 2025 is his first year as pope.

Images of these stamps were released on May 27 by the Vatican stamp and coin office, showcasing various moments from Pope Leo XIV's early days in his papacy.
