President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance recently hosted Louis Prevost, the brother of Pope Leo XIV, along with his wife Deborah Prevost, at the White House. The meeting took place on May 20 in the Oval Office.

Margo Martin, a special assistant and communications adviser to Trump, described the encounter as a "great meeting" on X, accompanied by a photograph of the gathering.

Earlier that day, Trump expressed his anticipation for meeting Prevost. He mentioned Prevost's supportive social media presence regarding Trump's political endeavors and noted that Prevost identifies as a "MAGA type," referencing Trump's campaign slogan "Make America Great Again."

"I like the pope and I like the pope’s brother," Trump stated. "Did you know that he lives in Florida? He’s got MAGA, he’s got Trump, and I look forward to getting him to the White House. I want to shake his hand. I want to give him a big hug."

Prevost has previously posted controversial content online but indicated during an interview on “Piers Morgan Uncensored” that he plans to be more cautious with his online activity now that his brother is pope. "I don’t need to create heat for him," he remarked about his sibling.

In the same interview, Prevost characterized his brother as being "much more liberal" than himself but refrained from labeling him as "woke." He speculated that Pope Leo XIV would likely maintain a balanced approach in his role as pontiff.

During Pope Leo's inauguration Mass at the Vatican on May 18, Prevost was seated next to second lady Usha Vance and her husband.
