The World Day of Prayer for Creation, themed "Seeds of Peace and Hope," is scheduled to be celebrated on September 1. The theme was announced by the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development on April 7 and was chosen by Pope Francis. This year's theme emphasizes "the need for long-term commitment," using the metaphor of a seed.

The event coincides with the Holy Year and the 10th anniversary of Pope Francis's encyclical, "Laudato Si', on Care for Our Common Home." Traditionally, the papal message for the day is issued in May or June.

This day marks the beginning of the ecumenical Season of Creation, which ends on October 4, the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi.

For 2025, the Season of Creation will have the theme "Peace with creation," inspired by the Book of Isaiah's vision of "The Kingdom of Justice" (32:14-18). This passage highlights the peace and prosperity arising from just leadership.

According to the dicastery, "Peace and care for creation share a close link." They further stated, "There is also a strong connection between war and degradation of our planet, which is seen in the waste of resources through destruction and armaments."

The dicastery called on Christians to pray for conditions that foster "a lasting, shared peace that gives rise to hope."
