The Knights of Columbus, in collaboration with the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal and the Higher Institute of Guadalupan Studies, launched a digital campaign titled "Hijos en el Hijo" on November 2. This initiative targets men seeking to strengthen their faith and masculine identity.
The campaign is described as "a transformative 40-day pilgrimage culminating in a consecration to Christ through Saint Mary of Guadalupe on December 12," according to a press release. It combines Marian consecration traditions with digital platforms, sharing reflections via social media, WhatsApp, podcasts, and video platforms like YouTube.
Participants will journey alongside Saint Juan Diego, whose humility and fidelity serve as models for holiness. The program provides spiritual tools for faith growth. The press release states that men face an urgent need for resources that reinforce their identity as children of God and leaders within families and communities.
Daily reflections and weekly formation videos are sent to participants' emails upon registration. They can also access podcasts and social media content. Special videos featuring Monsignor Eduardo Chávez will be available on days honoring Saint Juan Diego and Our Lady of Guadalupe.
The campaign addresses the lack of quality Spanish-language Catholic digital content for modern challenges faced by men today. "Saint Mary of Guadalupe offers a model of unconditional love and guidance," helping men recognize their dignity as God's children and family leaders.
Father Agustino Torres from the Franciscan Friars emphasized that this program offers a clear path toward restoring men's dignity as God's sons during an identity crisis period. Technology becomes a vehicle for delivering this spiritual truth throughout communities.
Luis Guevara, Executive Director for Hispanic Development at the Knights of Columbus, noted that the order was consecrated to Saint Mary of Guadalupe in 2001; it was renewed by Supreme Knight Patrick Kelly on February 3, 2023. Guevara stated that this campaign aligns with their goal to address Hispanic Catholics' spiritual needs within the context of starting the Intercontinental Guadalupan Novena.
This novena is an initiative by CELAM (Latin American Episcopal Council), CEM (Mexican Episcopal Conference), and PCAL (Pontifical Commission for Latin America). It aims at progressing through nine years ending December 12, 2031—marking exactly 500 years since Our Lady's apparitions at Tepeyac Hill.
"Hijos en el Hijo" unfolds over five parts concluding with Consecration Day on December 12th; each seven-day segment covers themes like restoring communion with God or masculinity while focusing on sonship/mission aspects too.
Through these phases thousands are expected not only reaffirming faith but also creating multiplying effects across families/parishes/workplaces led by catholic leaders inspired by both San Juan Diego & Virgen de Guadalupe
