Podcast aims to deepen love for rosary starting January

Father Mike Schmitz | Official Website

A new podcast titled "The Rosary in a Year" is set to launch on January 1, 2025, aiming to foster a deeper connection with the Marian devotion among listeners. The initiative is spearheaded by Father Mark-Mary Ames, a Franciscan Friar of the Renewal. Speaking at a virtual press conference on October 28, Father Mark-Mary expressed his hope that participants will "fall in love with the rosary because they experience it as … a privileged door for encounter with Our Lord and Our Lady."

Produced by Ascension, a Catholic multimedia network, the podcast will release daily episodes lasting between 10 to 15 minutes. Available on platforms like the Ascension App, Spotify, and Apple Podcasts, each episode includes guidance and instruction alongside prayer prompts and rosary prayers.

Father Mark-Mary aims to engage both regular rosary practitioners and beginners through this initiative. He stated during the virtual event that he believes their journey will involve learning how to pray with the truths of faith while being accompanied throughout.

The podcast is structured into six phases intended to gradually deepen listeners' prayer practices over time. It offers insights into forming daily prayer habits, understanding biblical foundations of the rosary, and meditating using sacred art and Scripture.

Listeners can sign up online for additional resources such as a free prayer plan available on Ascension's website. Other materials include “The Rosary in a Year Prayer Guide,” parish kits, and booklets on improving rosary prayers.

"The Rosary in a Year" is part of Ascension’s successful series of “In a Year” podcasts following previous offerings like “The Bible in a Year” hosted by Father Mike Schmitz. Father Mike Schmitz will also feature in bonus episodes alongside Father Mark-Mary.

Reflecting on his personal journey with the rosary during his youth, Father Mark-Mary shared how it became significant after he experienced an awakening moment during college prompted by discussions about faith.

For those interested in exploring before its official start date, an introductory episode is already accessible. In this preview, Father Mark-Mary emphasizes focusing on divine mysteries amid life's challenges: “Let’s go to the Lord... let’s focus on him... let’s remember that we have a mother who loves us.”
